This time last week were sailing on a charter boat in the Whitsunday Islands. It was the first time we had been sailing since we sold our own boat in the Caribbean to move back to Australia in 2011. Since that time a lot has changed. Our 7 year old daughter who grew up on the boat in the Caribbean with us is now 15. We have also had 2 more children, since leaving the Caribbean, and they had never been on a sailboat before.... so it was quite an adventure for them all. Here is a photo of us all as we were about to set off on our own.
We had such an incredible trip. The first 6 days were spectacular weather, and the islands were pristine and untouched. There were plenty of other boats around and public moorings to pick up, so as to protect the fragile reef from boats who can be reckless with their anchors, but other than that there was absolutely NO rubbish on the islands. It was good to see.
While we were in the anchorages, we saw turtles surface around us all the time. The kids were also excited to see fish (caught some for dinner too) manatee's, (they are called dugongs here) stingrays, sharks and funnily enough wanted to make friends with the goats on the islands. Here is our boat Jasambri...
Here I am at the helm... in my happy place. Oh, I am loving the new Coral Reef Dress that is coming SOON....
Stay tuned, there are more snippets from our trip to come .
One love x
